A Mammoth On Skis?

The mammoth was designed on the assurance that truck-trailers were 10-feet tall so it would easily fit within a standard delivery truck. Upon  actually going out and measuring, it was discovered that the doors of these trailers were a bit shorter than described, some 2 FEET shorter. So when the topic of alternative transportation for the mammoth came up, an off-handed joke was made about sticking it on rollerskates, which was swiftly dismissed as it was Edmonton in mid-January, so perhaps skis?

After a bit of scrambling. A flat-bed truck was rounded up for the slow-careful trip between Co*Lab and Borden Park, (Some 3KM away) but on the day of the festival, the roads were covered in so much ice and slush that the vehicle got stuck 4 times and ended up in a collision with an impatient driver.

Maybe skis weren’t such a bad idea?

“There’s an ideal bike-lane that runs nearly the entire 3KM path…“

“I saw some Skis at the thrift-shop?”

So with a pair of friends and some screws the (thankfully very light) mammoth strapped on some skis and slalomed it’s way nearly effortlessly along the ice much to the shock of many a surprised motorist and LRT rider along the way. And when it came time for the mammoth’s return journey, this Mammothly zero-carbon transportation footprint was the obvious choice.
